Birthday Cake:
Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake
Snack Ideas:
Thumbprint Jewel Cookies
Chocolate Dessert Cups
Cranberry Raspberry Punch - Serve the punch in plastic champagne glasses for a high-class toast.
Decorating Ideas:
Mirror Image
Drape a table with a colorful cloth, put up a large mirror and light it with big white holiday lights. Decorate the table with perfume bottles, flowers and makeup brushes.
I'm a Model
Hang up covers and make up ads from fashion magazines. You could even cut out some of the model's faces and replace with headshots of the birthday girl.
Walk this way
Create a catwalk using several pieces of white poster board, tape them lengthwise to form a long strip. Then secure gold decorative trim to the edge of catwalk. Lay the strip down the center of the room and set up folding chairs on both sides for the audience. Then set up lamps or spotlights to light up the runway.
Activities:
Makeup!
Team the girls up in threes. Give each team a mirror, brushes and makeup from the dollar-store and let them take turns being hair and makeup artists. One girl can sit in a chair while the other two work on her hair, fingers, face and toes.
I Feel Pretty
Let the girls dress up with old party gowns or buy a few from second-hand stores. You may want to custom fit the dresses by pinning up the backs or cutting the hems. Look for big hats, shoes and long gloves, too.
Let's Go Shopping
Give each guest a large pastel colored paper gift bag to decorate with stickers and markers so they can create their own designer shopping bag.
Star Studded Glasses
Give each girl a pair of sunglasses, along with beads, sequins and feathers to glue to the edges.
Game Suggestions:
Strike a Pose
Play fun dance music and have the girls move around, with arms and legs moving. When the music stops they must freeze in their dance poses long enough for an adult to take a group picture. If anyone moves, she's out, and the last player left wins a prize. The pictures make fun memories of the party.
Fashion Fest
Gather scarves, scraps of fabric, old bed sheets and tulle. Let the guests become fashions designers as they tie, pin, tape or even Velcro together their own original designs. Then they can parade their creations down the runway. The other guests can vote for different categories such as "Best Design", "Funniest Design", "Most Likely to Never be Worn".
Girl's Best Friend
Take a fake diamond ring, pass a string though it and tie the ends to make a large circle. The players stand around the circle holding the string. The leader stands inside the circle while the others secretly pass the ring along the string around the circle. If the leader spots the ring in someone's hands, the player who has it steps into the center of the circle. Play until everyone has had a chance to be in the center.
+ Along with the star-studded sunglasses, fill up their shopping bags with faux jewels, candy necklaces and a mini bottle of perfume.
+ Wrap up empty shoeboxes with fancy paper to create a makeup box. Line the inside with colored foil, then fill with samples of makeup, a small comb and a baggie full of candy.
